Children of Netherhearth
Investigating the Golden Age temple
After a brief battle you defeated the Maw snakes and fended off another surprise attack by the cavern’s resident choker. Searching the room, you discovered a receptacle for some kind of cubical magic key, and a mosaic depicting humans in friendship with a race of reptilian humanoids near a grand tiered temple topped with an enormous magical archway.
Further explorations of nearby tunnels took you past a strange idol decorated with two human skulls, to a vast sludge-filled room at the base of an enormous statue which rose through a hole in the ceiling far above. Within moments you were attacked by the room’s residents: strange red flowers spitting spore-spikes and a vast abomination that lurked in the morass and resembled a headless frog with barbed tentacles and an oversized mouth. Good fortune and sound tactics led you to victory against one of the most terrifying foes you have yet faced.
